Thanksgiving
November 20, 2009
Definitely my favorite thing about Thanksgiving is all the food. I get to have Thanksgiving twice this next week. Once at my house with my family and then at my grandmother’s house the following day. Hopefully I’ll gain some weight!
Seasons
November 13, 2009
My favorite season is fall, which is sad because Alabama’s fall isn’t very long. I love fall simply because I love to take pictures of the trees when they’ve completely changed colors. It just always looks like the tree was painted on the earth with fire orange or crimson leaves.

Halloween
November 6, 2009
I was forced to work Halloween morning 7am – 12pm. Publix allowed us to wear our costumes though, so it was actually kind of fun. After working the Pub, I went back to the dorms at UAH to pick up some people to take to my house. I was having a small party. At the party we played House of the Dead 2 and 3 on the Wii (<3) and watched Quarantine. After we got bored with the that, I took everyone to Elkton, TN. to an abandoned and supposedly haunted church. I’d been to Blue Springs church before, but I have never actually been inside the church because you have to basically break into it. The idea of just breaking into a church is bad enough. The door to the church is boarded up and bolted, so that wasn’t going to happen. All of the windows are held down with a piece of wood, but we got lucky and found one window that had a loose piece. Once we were all inside, of course we were spooked because it was a pitch black church that creaked with every step, but I didn’t feel a sense of it being haunted. It was still pretty awesome. I think my favorite part about it was the really eerie and old piano sitting in the corner. One of my friends sat down and started to play it. That was when I figured it was time to go. >: O
Biggest Fear
October 30, 2009
This one was a big tough. I don’t really fear much, but I guess, you could say, my biggest fear is being alone. And I’m not talking about being anywhere alone for a long time, or not being in relationships all the time. I guess I just mean that I don’t want to grow old, alone, with dozens of cats. I fear being that woman.
Super Power
October 26, 2009
If I could have any superhero power, it would have to be invincibility. There is so much I could do with that, but the first thing I would do is have a fist fight with a bear! I would also love to jump out of a plane without a parachute on and participate in a real sword fight.
Paper #3 (free writing)
October 16, 2009
Straight-edge. I had never heard of this term before I came to college. I’m not ashamed at all to be “straight-edge”. I just have no desire to drink, smoke, or do drugs. I have no intention to be anything like my father. My father was a meth abuser and alcoholic. When I was young he was a wonderful father. I’m not sure what changed him. Work, financial problems, the family, I could never figure that part out. But one minute he loves me, the next he doesn’t remember my name.
I remember the night when I finally realized that he was never going to be my father again. It was a week after Christmas 2008. He had done so well at Christmas with the family around. Why now? My brother and I had a few friends over when my father came home already drunk. My mom was closing at work. I told my brother to take his friends to one of their houses, and I would stay until she came home. In the process of them leaving is when he started chugging down anything with alcohol in it. Once my mom came home it went all downhill from there. She came home screaming and shouting at him to leave. He didn’t budge. He only replied with one sentence. “You deserve to be beaten.” I’ll always hate those words. After his remark, he went outside to smoke and to continue his drinking spree. My mom locked all of the doors. Five minutes pass. Ten minutes pass. Now he is banging on all of the doors, trying to find someway back in. Trying to find someway to reach us so he can show us just how pissed off he really is.
Fall Break
October 16, 2009
So… over fall break I didnt really do a lot.
I went to P.F. Changs with one of my friends, Nathan,
and took some photos at an abandoned bridge.
But besides that I worked all weekend.

Funny Break-up
October 12, 2009
So I dated this guy name Troy in high school for a little while, but once I found out he was cheating on me with my ex boyfriend, I figured it was time to let it go. So when he met up with me after classes I asked him “Hey want to hear a joke?”. He replied with “Of course”. I said “Our relationship” and walked away.
Epic Comments?
September 25, 2009
I commented on Faith M.’s blog. I stated for the first article that I hoped journalism makes a come back, and that I completely agreed with her statement about the second article.
I told John that his blog was short and sweet, but that the second article really confused me.
In Jacob’s blog I said that I agreed about the last two articles because journalism is steadily losing its credibility.
In A World Of Blog
September 25, 2009
“Blogs and the values of journalism” – David Weinberger
In the first part of the article I agree that Jimmy Wales is in a sense warning Jill Abramson. The New York Times and the Encyclopedia Britannica is spending millions to show us the truth, but more people visit Wikipedia regardless if it is accurate. I also agree with the end of his article where he states that journalism will always remain the core of how we learn about our world. The world will always depend on journalism as it’s source for news and information. It is our key to society.
“The Expanding Blogosphere” – Rachel Smolkin
I found this article rather hard to keep up with and understand, but I think I understood the point Smolkin was making( or atleast in my opinion was her point). If you asked me right now to name one of the blogs or bloggers mentioned in the article I would probably make a funny face and try to recall one but come up empty. There were just too many to try and keep up with and that is how it is in the blog world. So many blogs and so little time. Not only is it hard though to keep up with the names, but who is credible and who isn’t. Which one is giving me the information I need and want instead of their vivid opinion?
“Unbounded Misrepresentation” – Frank Partsch
I oddly enough agree with Partsch that blogging is like graffiti. Writings and markings that try to grab your attention and get noticed. In this technology age with all the blogs that we have available to us, how does one really stand out? At first journalism was authentic and accurate. Now we have bloggers of all ages giving us the “gossip”. Political campaigns and news stories are starting to sound like high school rumors.
